It was in February 2018 that 28-year-old Wyley Simpson discovered, to his great shock, that he’s pregnant. Having been transitioning since the age of 21, Simpson had been told by doctors that he could not get pregnant as he had stopped having periods and had been on testosterone therapy since 2012. He discovered it after 11-weeks of pregnancy and several bouts of morning sickness.

Though Wyley had a vagina and female reproductive organs during the pregnancy, the baby was born in September 2018 via emergency C-section. This week Wyley and his fiance Stephen Gaeth celebrated the six-month-mark of their son’s birth.

Commenting on the experience of being parents and the judgment and criticism he had faced from strangers, he said in this report:

It’s not every day that someone sees a pregnant man walking down the road, so we received a fair amount of abuse...I would be told that I’ll never be a man, “men don’t carry babies” and everyone called me “it”.

After the birth, Wyley returned to his hormonal therapy and found himself settling in comfortably.

Once my physical bump had disappeared and I was able to take my hormones again, I felt good about everything.
Wyley Simpson (as quoted by Daily Mail)

He also said that all the emotional and physical strain was worth it, but he would not want to go through the experience again.
