2. RSS, BJP Lash Out At Trinamool For Cancelling Mahajati Sadan Event

The RSS and the BJP on 5 September slammed the Mamata Banerjee government for cancelling the booking of a programme to mark Sister Nivedita’s 150th birth anniversary at Mahajati Sadan on 3 October, which RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat was scheduled to attend.

The state government’s action, the BJP and RSS said, smacked of an authoritarian mindset. A spokesperson of the Sister Nivedita 150th anniversary celebration committee, which had booked Mahajati Sadan for the programme, claimed that the auditorium authorities had accepted the invitation in June. But, last week they told the committee that they need to take police permission.
