In India, the number of people infected with COVID-19 has been increasing continuously. So far, the total number of cases has stand at 878254, according to the Ministry of Health & Welfare.
As many as 28,701 new cases have been confirmed in the last 24 hours in the country and 500 deaths have taken place.
The active cases now stand at 3,01,609 while 5,53,471 have recovered/migrated so far with 23174 casualties.
Maharashtra remains the worst-hit state with 254427 confirmed cases. Out of these 140325 people have recovered or have been discharged, while 10289 people have died
In Tamil Nadu, 138470 cases have been confirmed, 89532 people have recovered or have been discharged and 1966 patients have died.
The national capital remains in the third position with 112494 confirmed cases, while 89968 people have recovered or have been discharged and 3371 patients have died.
According to Johns Hopkins University, the death toll from the virus has increased to 569128 worldwide and the number of infected cases is at 12910357.
America has the highest number of coronavirus cases in the world with 3304942 confirmed cases and135205 people deaths.
