FIT Webqoof: Can this Homeopathic Medicine Cure Dengue in 48 Hrs?

So what's the truth? Is it really possible for a medicine to cure dengue in just two days? To find the truth, FIT spoke to Dr. Kalyan Banerjee, a Padma Shri awardee who has been practicing homeopathy for the past four decades and runs an eponymous clinic in New Delhi's Chittranjan Park.

Here's what he said.

Dengue is a mosquito-borne disease which can either be in the form of mild dengue fever, characterised by fever, rash and muscle/joint pain; or it can be severe dengue fever which is also called dengue hemorrhagic fever.

This severe dengue fever could cause severe bleeding, shock (sudden drop in blood pressure) and even result in death.

And it is precisely because of the varied nature of the disease that a medicine, no matter how powerful, will take time to work.

Dr. Banerjee explains how 48 hours is in fact, a crucial time in the treatment of dengue. He says that if dengue is severe, complications can increase during that time.

Dr. Banerjee, however, does confirm that the medicine mentioned in the post, Eupatorium Perfoliatum 200 Ch is used in the treatment of dengue.

Dr. Banerjee adds that in homeopathic treatment of dengue, different complications require different medicines.

And while many patients do get better, it is not a quick fix for sure, whether in homeopathy or allopathy. Mild dengue fever, for instance, takes approx 5-7 days to heal.

"A severe kind of dengue takes time to heal", says Dr. Banerjee as he signs off.

FIT had earlier reached out to Dr Suranjeet Chaterjee, Internal Medicine specialist at Apollo Hospital, New Delhi, when a similar claim was made regarding an Ayurvedic drug. This is what he said,

Final verdict on the claim? FALSE.
