In a world where asexuality as a spectrum is still something many are unaware of, television actress Sriti Jha opens up about her identifying as one through a beautiful poem that has touched many hearts.

Her poem "Confessions of a Romantic Asexual" s about being an asexual and all that she has to face as society continues to question the spectrum. The video is from the Spoken Fest in Mumbai held in January 2020. The actress talks about how even though she loves to be kissed and hugged, sex does nothing for her.

She also spoke about consent and how not wanting sex is looked at as a “problem”.

“Finally I was relieved when they wrote chants of no means no. But when I said no and I meant no, they said ‘you’ve got to try a little more’.”

While narrating her poetry, Sriti also explains how she 'learned to lie in words and in moans’ when the screams of “Me Too” was echoing across the globe. At the end of her poem, she says, “I am asexual, I’m not the only one,” a line that brought a smile on all our faces.
