“You do not need to feel alone, talk to someone.”

It’s World Suicide Prevention Week, and this simple reminder to talk through our problems and begin a conversation on mental health comes from familiar faces.

Director Anand Tiwari directed famous TV parents Ratna Pathak Shah, Gajraj Rao, Sheeba Chaddha, Kumud Mishra, Shishir Sharma, Ayesha Raza Mishra to tell you to open up and try talking to your parents about your problems.

Mental health awareness is on the rise, and we’re always urged to try talking to someone. This video reminds us, that maybe, that someone could be our parents.

Sometimes, especially when you are a young person, it feels like the world is closing in on your problems and our parents (or anybody) just don’t understand.

Pathak Shah, Shishir Sharma, Ayesha Raza Mishra and the others begin by reprimanding you with typical parent issues.

But the flurry of ”Why are you always on your phone?”, “At your age, we didn't even have electricity!”, “We worked so hard, we were already earning by your age,” soon turns into “Don't worry beta, if we had mobiles when we were young, we would be stuck to them too,” reminding us that our parents may not be so different from us after all.

So though it may seem impossible we should try sharing the burden, it may help us out of the darkness we feel.

Of course, if you have parents who are not available or who you cant seem to see eye to eye with, there are suicide helpline numbers on the video as well.
